Why students choose Australia
Three-year degrees
Most bachelor’s take three years, with an optional honours year for students who want research experience.
Two intakes a year
Most courses start in February or July, so you rarely wait a full year to begin.
Work after graduating
The Temporary Graduate visa gives you two years after a bachelor’s or coursework master’s, three after a research degree.
Work while you study
You can work up to 48 hours a fortnight during study periods and without a limit in breaks.
How degrees and applications work
A bachelor’s usually takes three years; engineering takes four, and an honours year adds one more. The academic year starts in February, with a second intake in July.
You apply directly to each university. Many universities run a one-year foundation programme for students whose school qualification does not meet direct entry.
A master’s takes one to two years. Coursework master’s are taught; research master’s centre on a thesis.
Entry requirements
- IGCSE and A-Level
- Usually three A-Levels. Universities convert your results into an equivalent of the Australian ATAR score, and requirements vary widely by course.
- IB Diploma
- The IB Diploma, usually from about 24 to 36 or more points depending on the university and course.
- American Diploma
- A strong GPA and, at many universities, SAT or ACT scores or AP exams. Otherwise a foundation programme.
- English
- IELTS Academic 6.5 overall (no band below 6.0) is common; some courses ask for more.

- Bachelor’s tuition
- About AUD 20,000 to 50,000 a year. Medicine and health sciences cost more.

Applying for a master’s
Australian universities assess your Egyptian bachelor’s against their own grade tables. Many coursework master’s accept graduates from other fields, and a related degree can earn credit that shortens the programme.
Scholarships
Universities offer merit scholarships for international students, usually a percentage off tuition, sometimes for the whole degree if you keep your grades up.
Across all our destinations: $15M+ in scholarships secured for our students over eight years. Your counsellor tells you which awards fit your profile and when to apply.
