These figures count scholarship listings, not students or money. One listing is one award as a university describes it on its own website. A university that publishes many small awards counts more than one that publishes a single large scheme, so read the counts as where awards are listed, not as where funding is easiest to win.

Open scholarships by country

Most open listings are in the United Kingdom: 65.7% of the total. Pick a country to see its scholarships.

By level of study

Deadlines in the next 12 months

439 listings (7.4%) give a fixed closing date, and 439 of those fall in the next 12 months, more in November 2026 than in any other month. The other 5,469 give no fixed date: many are awarded with the offer, or close with the university’s application deadline.

Grades and tests

What listings ask for, in their own words.
State a minimum grade
26.7%
1,580 of 5,908 listings name a grade we can read as a minimum, such as AAB at A level, 36 IB points, a GPA of 3.5, a 2:1 or an 85% average. The rest ask for “excellent” or “strong” results without a number, or set no grade.
Mention the SAT or ACT
3.0%
177 of 5,908 listings mention the SAT or the ACT, almost all of them in the United States: 171 of 639 US listings (26.8%). Some say scores are only considered if you send them.

How we count

The index counts listings collected from universities’ own websites. It is not a list of every scholarship, and it does not try to cover government or charity awards that you apply for outside a university.
Where listings come from
Our software reads more than 200 university scholarship pages in turn, several times a day. An AI model takes each award’s amount, requirements and deadline from the page text, and we store it with a link to the university’s page. Pages that cannot be read are skipped; nothing is added from memory.
What counts as open
Its deadline has not passed, or the listing gives no fixed deadline.
What is left out
Awards only for students already at the university, for refugees and sanctuary seekers, or for Commonwealth citizens, and Chevening, which has its own national round. New applicants from Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf usually cannot use these.
Level of study
Read from words in the title and requirements, such as “undergraduate”, “bachelor’s”, “master’s”, “MBA” or “PhD”, or a requirement to hold a degree.
Minimum grade
Counted when the requirements give a grade as a number or class: A level grades, IB points, a GPA out of 4, a UK degree class or a percentage average. Awards for transfer students and banded awards for lower grades are not counted as minimums.
SAT or ACT
Counted when the title or requirements mention the SAT or the ACT, whether as a minimum score or as an option.
Limits
Universities describe awards in different ways and pages change, so some listings, especially those with no fixed deadline, may be out of date or sorted under the wrong level. Always check the award on the university’s own page before you apply.
