Boarding schools

Some families want their child to finish school abroad before university. We help you choose a boarding school in the UK, Switzerland or the US, apply, and prepare the visa and the move.

What we do, step by step

  1. 01

    First consultation

We meet you and your child, in one of our offices or online, to talk about age, current school and curriculum, grades, interests, budget and the country you have in mind.

  2. 02

    A shortlist of schools

Schools that fit your child’s age, curriculum and goals, with the programmes they offer (for example A levels, the IB or a US high school diploma), boarding arrangements and fees side by side.

  3. 03

    Entry requirements

What each school asks for: school reports, an English test or the school’s own entrance tests, references and an interview. We plan the dates with you.

  4. 04

    Applications

We prepare and submit the applications with you, help your child get ready for interviews, and follow each school until you have an offer.

  5. 05

    Visa and the move

Once you accept a place, we help with the student visa for that country, the documents the school needs, travel dates and what to pack for boarding life.

  6. 06

    Then university

Many of our boarding students stay with us for their university applications, so the plan carries on from school to university.

What you get

  • A counsellor who works with you and your child
  • A shortlist of schools with programmes, boarding and fees compared
  • Help with applications, entrance tests and interviews
  • Help with the student visa and getting ready to leave

What to bring

  • Your child’s last two school reports
  • Their passport, or the date it is being renewed
  • Any English or entrance test results
  • Your budget and the countries you are considering

Each school decides who it accepts, and visa decisions are made by each country’s government. School fees and government fees are paid to the school or the government, not to us.

Questions

Which countries do you cover for boarding schools?
The UK, Switzerland and the US. We have placed students at our partner schools: Leysin American School, every CATS Global Schools school (including CATS Cambridge, CSVPA, Guildhouse School, The Worthgate School, Bosworth, Bournemouth Collegiate, St Michael’s and CATS Academy Boston), Abbey DLD and MPW, and at other schools.
What age can my child start?
It depends on the school and the country. Many students join for the last two years of school, for A levels, the IB or the final years of a US high school. We check the ages each school accepts.
Can you help with university afterwards?
Yes. Most families stay with us for university applications, so the same team knows your child’s file.
